A warm and vibrant floral extravaganza for Kim & Ed in Somerset
“When we started building the tablescape and the moongate, and I saw it all come together at the end, it really was the dream!”
— Kim & Ed
Curating these gorgeously bold and exotic looking floral displays for Kim and Ed’s wedding was such a fun project. The brief allowed for a lot of creativity and play, and the outcome was beautifully unique.
Kim is a designer, so she created a mood board with images of the wedding venue and their ideal colour scheme. This was incredibly helpful for giving me a really good idea of what this creative couple envisioned for their wedding day, as well as lots of inspiration for flower selection and style.
Together we chose a really bright and colourful theme for Kim and Ed’s wedding flowers, with glorious shades of coral, red, gold and pink, with contrasting pops of green and blue. I also used lots of bold shapes to add even more interest to the bold floral displays.
One of Kim's favourite flowers is the peony, but unfortunately they were not season at the time of their wedding. I used a frilly pink garden rose instead, which gave a similar feel.
I also used gorgeous coral anthurium, roses, dahlia, blousy lilac scabiosa, prickly blue spherical echinops, yellow craspedia pom poms, lisianthus and eucalyptus.
Kim and Ed got married at Bath registry office on a Wednesday, and then hired Bohème in Somerset for a weekend-long wedding celebration with their family and close friends.
I created a beautiful hand-tied bridal bouquet for Kim on their wedding day, which then became one of the arrangements in the tablescape at Bohème, alongside colourful candles and glassware.
To celebrate Kim's Chinese heritage, they had a traditional tea ceremony, with a backdrop of a moongate - a traditional architectural element in Chinese gardens.
I made two garlands using pampas grass, palm suns and eucalyptus, which were attached to the moongate. These were dotted through with more of the sculptural coral anthurium flowers, to tie the backdrop into the tablescape.
In total I created one bridal bouquet, one buttonhole, nine table arrangements and two moongate garlands, and the results were stunning, as I’m sure you’ll agree!
“Thank you once again for being our florist, I'm so happy you were able to do our wedding flowers - what you created was absolutely perfect! I was thrilled with how everything turned out, and the flowers really brought everything together.”
